Job Description

• The superconductivity and Radio Frequency Development Department of the Technical Division contributes to the advancement of conventional and superconducting Radio Frequency technology, from conceptualization through commissioning of components and assemblies, to be used in all aspects of beam acceleration, handling and detection. It also includes basic material research and development, including the establishment of reliable and repeatable chemical processing recipes and procedures to achieve desired RF cavity accelerating gradients.

• The successful candidate will work with a team of scientists and engineers to develop measurement and automation solutions based on commercially available hardware and software tools.


• Participates in the design, development, implementation, commissioning and maintenance of data acquisition, control and measurement systems for various wet chemistry tools, liquid delivery systems and safety systems. Activities include instrumentation selection, wiring specifications, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming, Human Machine Interface (HMI) design and configuration, Labview programming and systems networking. Documentation includes design specification, schematics, procedures and users manuals.

Qualifications BSEE or ChemE or equivalent work experience, with at least 5 years experience developing measurement and automation applications based on PLCs, HMIs and Labview graphical development environment. Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing, measurement techniques, typical laboratory measurement instrumentation, and industrial automation equipment required. Good oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment are required.
